Programming Steps

  1. Locate the “Learn” Button: Find the small, colored button (yellow, purple, red, green, or orange) on the back or side of the opener unit or on the wall control panel. Consult your owner’s manual if needed.
  2. Activate Programming Mode: Press and release the “Learn” button immediately (press twice for MyQ control panels). Avoid holding it, as this may reset the opener.
  3. Program the Keypad (877MAX Model): Within 30 seconds, press * and # simultaneously on the keypad until the light is steady, not flashing. Enter your 4-digit PIN and press #.
  4. Model-Specific Steps (387LM/387LMC): For these models, after pressing * and # until the keypad stops flashing, enter your 4-digit PIN, press #, then enter the opener ID from the chart above and press # within 10 seconds. Press and release the “Learn” button, then enter your PIN and press 0 (twice for Genie/Overhead Door models).
  5. Test the Setup: Enter your PIN and hold 0 (or press Enter for some models) to confirm the door operates.

Changing an Existing PIN

To change a PIN, enter the current PIN, press *, enter the new PIN, press *, then enter the new PIN again and hold 0 to confirm.

Resetting the Keypad

To reset, press the “Learn” button, quickly enter a new 4-digit PIN followed by 0 on the keypad, and verify by testing the PIN.
